About This Modern Landscaping Project
Alongside the Corte Madera Creek in Kentfield Gardens, we constructed the ideal outdoor space for ‘al fresco’ dining and entertaining. A stone-veneered outdoor barbecue, outdoor kitchen island, built-in fire pit, and new blue stone patio were installed to match the home’s modern farmhouse appeal.

Modern Landscaping in Kentfield, CA
This landscaping project is for a home situated along the banks of Corte Madera Creek in the Kentfield Gardens neighborhood. The home was rebuilt from the ground up and the vision for the landscape was to create an outdoor space for play, entertainment, and relaxation. Working closely with the landscape architect and owners, we were able to bring this vision to fruition.
The property is situated near a flood zone, so the entire patio area was elevated. The outdoor patio was a collaborative effort with the general contractor who helped with installing various underground utilities and pouring the concrete foundation during the home’s construction. The patio was immense, including room for a full outdoor kitchen, dining area, and lounge area with a natural gas fire pit.
The outdoor kitchen featured a bluestone veneer and a natural stone countertop. Our skilled masons and carpenters constructed a custom-designed planter with a live edge redwood bench.
The custom fire pit was a rectangular design featuring a brass burner, bluestone veneer, and 12” tabletop surround, as well as a unique lighting installation that created a ‘floating’ effect at night.
Surrounding the raised bluestone patio, we installed mosaic bluestone stepping stones with evergreen groundcover for a natural, organic look. The bluestone selection was a creative effort to achieve the variegated look that the owner desired. Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Italian bluestone were all used for the project.
We installed a hot tub spa surrounded by an evergreen hedge for privacy. The owners desired a productive garden, so we constructed a raised redwood vegetable planter in the ideal location for sun exposure. Lastly, given the property’s proximity to the creek, per the county’s requirements, a bioswale was installed featuring California native plant species, and various types of grasses. The bioswale serves as a filter for removing pollutants from the properties' various downspouts and rainwater runoff before recharging the region’s water table.
