About This Landscape Construction Project
Situated in the Kent Woodlands neighborhood and overlooking Mt. Tam, our landscape construction team modernized the entire outdoor space of this contemporary and tranquil property. This landscaping project included numerous custom, unique features, including a terraced iron Corten retaining wall, a linear paver path and patio, an iron pergola, a water sculpture, and a custom fence.

Contemporary Landscape Construction in Kentfield, CA
Over the course of a couple of years, we have worked, and continue to work, closely with the architect and owner on transforming this entire property’s outdoor space. From the front gate to the pool patio this landscape was rebuilt to reflect the client’s modern aesthetic. In the backyard, there were multiple functional areas that we reconstructed.
For the pool area, the entire patio was redone with concrete linear pavers from Calstone. A custom, perforated aluminum sheet shade arbor was constructed by our skilled crew, with the materials sourced from our local metal fabricator and supplier. An outdoor wet bar was constructed, finished with a sink and natural soapstone countertop.
From the backdoor to the pool patio, an Ipe wooden deck and concrete walkway were framed by concrete form board retaining walls for drought-tolerant plantings, fruit trees, and a productive vegetable garden.
Moving down from the pool, new poured concrete stairs and form board retaining walls were formed and installed. In coordination with the owner, our team also carefully installed their personal sculpture collection throughout the landscape. In addition to the concrete stairs, we constructed custom concrete linear pavers that featured Mexican pebble joints and drought-tolerant plantings. Black outdoor pathway lights and spotlights on specimen plantings were installed to light up the beautiful walkway, transitioning from the pool area to the outdoor dining area. For the dining area, our experienced carpenters installed an Ipe wooden deck.
In the front yard, our crew built an entirely custom fence to be ‘fire-proof’. We used fiber cement siding for the panels, and redwood for the framing. The hill at the entrance was terraced using iron corten metal retaining walls. Xeriscape and fire-resistant plantings were featured on each terrace, and a large metal sculpture was installed as the focal point.
